In The Night Garden | Inside the amazing Showdome

Inside the amazing Showdome

The world's only In the Night Garden Live Showdome is purpose-built to make your day!

Better than old-fashioned theatres

When we first talked to parents about where In the Night Garden Live should take place, the first thing you told us was old-fashioned theatres wouldn't be suitable.

Babies and toddlers can’t sit in a folding theatre seat. And the thought of taking a small child to traditional venues fills most parents with dread.

There aren’t enough toilets, baby changing facilities, room for buggies, let alone space to leave your seat unflustered without disturbing everyone else.

So we asked you what would make it work.

Somewhere really special

You said you wanted an experience that would be easy and fun for the whole family. And you wanted somewhere really special - somewhere that feels like you're actually entering the Night Garden.

On a practical level, you wanted child-friendly, roomy seating with enough space for little ones to feel completely free to roam, cuddle up, sit on laps, jump and dance around without disturbing others.

You also needed several baby changing spaces, toddler-friendly loos, plus space to park over 100 buggies securely!

Finally, you said you'd prefer locations that are nice and convenient, such as parks and shopping centres, with parking, cafes and transport links nearby, to make it easier to plan a really memorable and fun day out.

It didn’t exist

Looking at this list of specific requirements, we soon realised your ideal venue didn’t exist!

So the only way to make it happen was to design our own purpose-built theatre venue. This created another advantage. Owning our own venue means we can use our own specially trained child-friendly staff to welcome you.

Introducing the amazing showdome

So that’s why In the Night Garden Live takes place in its own purpose-built, family-friendly Showdome. There are only 13 rows of seats, so everyone gets a great view.

Everything is designed to make parents’ lives easier, from roomy seating and child-friendly staff to buggy parks, microwaves, baby-changing facilities and toilets.

It gives In the Night Garden Live a really unique appeal. There are many shows for young children but as The Independent wrote, “there’s nothing quite like In the Night Garden Live”.

Because it’s such a unique venue it’s hard to understand what’s so special about watching In the Night Garden Live inside the family-friendly Showdome if you’ve never seen it before.

That’s why we made this video which takes you on a walking tour inside the world's only In the Night Garden Live Showdome.

Hi Zoe - thank you for getting in touch, we're sorry to say that we aren't able to visit Scotland this summer. We had some great shows in Glasgow in previous years, but unfortunately problems with the local City Council and lower than needed audience figures meant that a trip this year wasn't feasible. We apologise for any disappointment this might cause, and we do hope to bring the show closer to you in future. Please let us know where you would like to see the show by filling in the form below, we'll make sure to pass on all of your feedback!

Hi wondering if u come to Scotland?
  • Alex Wells, 20/07/2016 1:31pm (2 years ago)

Hi Catherine - thanks for your message. It is really rather warm in Birmingham at the moment, but our Showdome is designed for all types of weather, and our air-conditioning will ensure that it remains a comfortable temperature inside at all times. The weather forecast for tomorrow (the 21st) looks quite a lot cooler but still quite sunny, so it should be a really lovely day out! If you have any further questions do let us know at!
  • Catherine , 20/07/2016 8:13am (2 years ago)

I'm worried it will be too hot in the dome at Birmingham tomorrow? What do you think?

Hi Vicky, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately we don't have plans to visit Leeds in 2016, so your nearest venue is probably Manchester (we're visiting from 30 July - 20 August).

Hi Frances-Anne - we're sorry for the disappointment. As you know we visited Glasgow in 2014 and 2015 but sadly too few people attended the show to cover the costs of our being there (we’ve also had issues with Glasgow City Council which added to our losses each year). This is why we're afraid we won’t be visiting again in 2016.
  • Vicky lister, 19/03/2016 9:53am (2 years ago)

Would in the night garden be coming to leeds at all
  • Frances-anne Lees, 18/03/2016 5:35pm (2 years ago)

I'm very disappointed that you don't have any Scottish dates on your tour this year. Having watched the show in Glasgow last year I'd have loved to have brought the kids back to see it again.

Took my daughter to the Birmingham show the afternoon before her birthday as a kick off to the celebrations. She was totally mesmerised & belly laughed all the way through. The magical twinkle in her eyes when the big characters came on stage was truly unforgettable. Excellent!

For people who live in the South East it is too far to travel to your current venues unfortunately. My granddaughter loves ITNG and is mesmerised by it. Please, next year can you think of us southerners and bring your wonderful show to a venue near us. Tunbridge Wells, Brightin or Eastbourne way please.
  • In the Night Garden Live, 02/07/2015 3:17pm (3 years ago)
